Tarpon
As a gamefish the Tarpon has few equals, and is widely
renowned for its spectacular runs and leaps when hooked.
This silver-sided powerhouse feeds on crabs and fishes,
and can be identified by its large scales, protruding
lower jaw, and the elongated ray of its dorsal fin.
The current state record is a 164 lb. giant caught off
the Indian Beach Pier in 1978 by John W. Freeman.
