Swordfish
These large aggressive fish, reaching lengths of up
to 14 feet and weighing up to 1,200 pounds, have been
reported to attack men, boats, whales, and submarines.
The long swordlike bill is used to stun and spear fish
and other prey.
The North Carolina record is held by J. Horace Murray,
Jr. with his 441 lb. catch in 1979 off Wrightsville
Beach.
