Speckled Trout
Speckled Trout are highly prized both as a game and
food fish, with peak catches occurring in the fall.
Numerous round black spots cover their sides and second
dorsal fin, serving to distinguish them from the closely-related
gray trout.
The waters of Wrightsville Beach produced the 12 lb.
4 oz. record caught in 1961 by John R. Kenyon.
