Spanish Mackerel

Smaller than the king mackerel, Spanish are found closer to shore and are more likely to be caught from piers. They are prized for the table as well as for their sporting qualities.

The 13 lb. record taken by Robert Cranton at Ocracoke Inlet in 1987 doubles as a world all-tackle record.
