Sheepshead
Sheepshead are usually found around jetties, pilings,
and shipwrecks where they feed on barnacles and oysters
with their strong crushing teeth. The dark vertical
stripes along their sides give rise to their common
name as the Convict Fish.
The 19 lb. 4 oz. record was caught by Chris Robbins
in 1999 off Oregon Inlet.
