Red
Drum
Our official state fish, the Red Drum is easily identified
by dark “eye” spots at the base of its tail.
The Outer Banks are perhaps the world’s finest
fishing ground for these powerful fish which can reach
up to five feet in length.
The 94 lb. 2 oz. state record is also a world all-tackle
record, and was caught at Hatteras Island in 1984 by
David G. Deuel.
