Gray Trout

These popular gamefish are members of the large drum and croaker family. Despite the two canine teeth extending from the upper jaw, the soft mouth is easily torn, leading to their alternate name as weakfish.

The 14 lb. 14 oz. record was caught in the Nags Head surf in 1980 by Sterling L. Ammons.
