Gray Triggerfish
The powerful incisor teeth of the Gray Triggerfish enable
it to crush and feed on sea urchins, barnacles, and
mussels. Despite its strange look and sandpaper-like
skin, it is an excellent food fish when properly prepared.
An 11 lb. 4 oz. catch off Wrightsville Beach in 1990
by Billy R. Ayers remains our state record.
