Flounder

For all its strange look, the Flounder is perfectly adapted for concealment in the sand and preying on shrimp, fish, and other creatures that venture near. These popular gamefish are eagerly sought for their fine flavor.

The state record weighed in at 20 lbs. 8 oz. and was caught by Harold Auten in 1980 at Carolina Beach.
