Florida Pompano

Highly esteemed for its fine flavor, the Pompano is an excellent gamefish for its size. These members of the jack family are often caught by surf fishermen using shrimp or crab for bait.

The 8 lb. record was caught at Carolina Beach by John F. Vickers in 2001.
