Marlin
Considered by many to be the world’s premier sportfish,
the Blue Marlin is one of the largest and fastest fish
to swim the seas. They feed heavily on squid and other
fish, and are thought to use their bill to stun and
spear their prey.
While fish up to 2,000 lbs. have been reported, the
state record weighed in at 1,142 lbs. and was caught
off Oregon Inlet by Jack Herrington in 1974.
