Black Drum

The largest member of the drum family, the Black Drum can reach weights of up to 125 lbs. and measure up to five feet in length. Barbels under its chin help it locate food on the ocean floor.

The state record is 100 lbs. 1 oz. and was caught in 1998 by Charles R. Dycus in the Cape Fear River.
