Bigeye Tuna
These powerful fish are built for speed, as evidenced
by their streamlined shape and deeply forked tail. Highly
migratory, the Bigeye feeds on squid, mackerel, and
a wide variety of fishes from the surface to depths
of around 500 feet.
The 1989 record weighing 300 lbs. was caught by Dennis
S. Swartz off Oregon Inlet.
